Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 slices- bread
  2. 3 cups- flattened rice soaked in water and drained [poha]
  3. 2 no- onions chopped
  4. 3-4 no- green chillies chopped
  5. 2 no- tomatoes- chopped
  6. 1/2 cup- boiled or frozen peas
  7. 1 no- boiled potato cubed
  8. 1 tbsp- coriander chopped
  9. 1 no- carrot diced
  10. 1 tsp- mustard seeds black
  11. 10-12 no- curry leaves
  12. 1/2 tsp- hing
  13. Juice of 2 lemons
  14. A pinch of sugar
  15. 1/2 tsp- red chilli powder
  16. 1/2 tsp- turmeric powder
  17. Salt to taste
  18. 1 tsp- coriander powder
  19. 1 tbsp- roasted or fried peanuts
  20. 1 tbsp- refined oil

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan or kadai
  2. Add hing, mustard seeds, curry leaves, chopped green chilies and chopped onions
  3. Saute till onions turn pinkish in color
  4. Add tomatoes and saute for 2-3 minutes
  5. Now add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt to taste and pinch of sugar
  6. Stir gently, add boiled peas and potatoes
  7. Mix well and saute for 2 minutes more
  8. Now take bread slices, dip them in a bowl of water and take out immediately
  9. Take the soaked flattened rice and add it along with torn bread slices in the pan
  10. Mix gently, adjust spices and salt
  11. Finally add the lemon juice and switch off the gas
  12. Garnish with chopped coriander and peanuts..
  13. Serve hot with ginger tea
