Ingredients to make Dal Lucknowi

  • 1 cup toor dal
  • salt as per taste
  • Pinch asafoetida
  • Half tsp turmeric
  • 2 and 1/2 cups water
  • 2 green chillies
  • 6 garlic pods
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • Half bowl milk
  • coriander leaves for garnishing

How to make Dal Lucknowi

  1. wash dal, add salt, turmeric, asafoetida and green chillies and bring it to boil in cooker upto 3 whistles .
  2. Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, dry red chillies, garlic and temper into dal and close the lid for two minutes and keep boiling .
  3. Open lid add half bowl milk and mix very well, garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice or roti .
