ABOUT Urad Dal Bread RECIPE

Urad dal bread tastes yummy, is easy to make and a healthier option..No yeast, no gluten, self-raising.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Urad dal 1.5 cups
  2. 1/2 teaspoon jeera
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Italian pizza seasonings ( optional )
  5. Garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon
  6. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  7. 3 tablespoon cornflour
  8. 3 tablespoon rice flour
  9. Baking powder, 1 1/2 teaspoon ( Optional/ Won't need if dal is fermented well )
  10. Water as needed ( 3 to 6 tablespoon )
  11. Oil, 1 tablespoon
  12. Lemon juice 1 teaspoon
  13. 1 teaspoon thyme

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak the dal overnight.
  2. Next morning, drain it.
  3. Grind using minimum water.
  4. Add in all ingredients, except baking powder and give a whisk.
  5. Keep it covered to ferment for about 6 hours.
  6. The batter will become little bubbly.
  7. If it has not fermented well, then we can add the baking powder. ( Don't add if you see nice bubbly batter )
  8. Meanwhile, do preheat the oven 180 degrees for 10 minutes.
  9. Ready a bread tin or cake tin by greasing the sides.
  10. Place parchment paper at the base.
  11. Pour the batter.
  12. Bake at 200 degrees for 45 minutes.
  13. Lower temperature to 180 and bake for 10 minutes more.
  14. Keep both rods on for the last 10 minutes so that top gets browned.
  15. Remove when done.
  16. Cool for 10 minutes and then de mold.
  17. Cool on wire rack.
  18. Slice it the next day.
