Aam Dal / Lentils with Green Mango

Ingredients to make Aam Dal / Lentils with Green Mango

  • red lentils /masoor dal or mung dal or combination of both 1 cup
  • Green mango cut into cubes - 1-2
  • turmeric powder -1 1/2tsp
  • Red chili powder -1 tsp
  • mustard seeds -1/2tsp
  • Dry red chili - 2pieces
  • salt
  • sugar - 1 tbsp

How to make Aam Dal / Lentils with Green Mango

  1. Pressure cook the dal/Dals with 1/2tsp turmeric powder and salt. Keep aside.
  2. Take a Wok.Add mustard oil. Bring it to the smoking point and then again bring the gas into the sim.
  3. Add mustard, dry red chili. Sauté it.
  4. Add the mangoes and fry for few minutes.
  5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and mix.
  6. Add the boiled dal.Mix it well .
  7. Smash some of the mangoes with the back of the ladle for the tangy taste.
  8. Add sugar to balance it. Bring it to boiling point for few minutes.
  9. Aam dal is ready.

My Tip:

Serve it with hot steamed rice.
