Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 3/4 cup - Wheat flour
  2. 3/4 Cup - Sugar
  3. 1-1/2 Cup - Water
  4. 1/2 Cup - Ghee
  5. Elaichi Powder - 1/2 teaspoon


  1. Add ghee in a heavy bottomed pan and heat. Add wheat flour and keep stirring on medium flame. Meanwhile in a separate pan combine sugar and water to make the syrup. Let it boil till the sugar completely dissolves.
  2. Keep stirring wheat flour til the colour changes from pale brown to dark brown. You will get the roasted aroma.
  3. Turn the gas to low and while stirring pour the sugar syrup to the flour. Make sure that no lumps remain. Add elaichi powder and stir.
  4. Once the halwa thickens take it off the gas flame and serve hot.
