Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Whole masoor dal - 200 grams
  2. Crushed ginger-garlic and green chillies - 4 tsp
  3. Onion- 1 medium ( finely chopped )
  4. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  5. Red chili powder 1 Tsp
  6. Garam masala powder- 1/2 tsp
  7. Salt- as required
  8. For Tadka : Ghee - 5 tsp Garlic cloves- 8
  9. Few chopped coriander leaves and cream for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak masoor daal for half an hour.
  2. In a pressure cooker add masoor dal, 3 cups of water, haldi, red chilli powder, salt, crushed garlic-ginger, green chilies and chopped onions, pressure cook till 5 whistles.
  3. Let the pressure release on its own then ope nthe lid and simmer the dal on a slow flame. If the dal is too thick then add some hot water to get the right consistency.
  4. Sprinkle garam masala powder and mix well. Heat a tempering pan, add ghee and garlic pods, pour the tempering over the hot daal and serve. Garnish it with coriander leaves and cream if desired.
