ABOUT Vagharelo Rotlo.( Crumbled and Fried Millet Chapati ) RECIPE

A spicy, traditional dish of Gujarat where you will find the flavours of Gujarat. Millet is a good source of calcium along with other healthy and nutritive benefits.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 cups millet flour
  2. 2 to 3 green chilies
  3. 4 to 5 chopped garlic cloves
  4. 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  5. 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  6. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  7. 1 tbsp red chilly powder
  8. 1 tsp Garam Masala
  9. 1 tsp cumin powder
  10. 1 tsp coriander powder
  11. 1 finely chopped onion
  12. 1 finely chopped tomato
  13. Salt as per taste
  14. 3 tbsp oil
  15. Green onion scallions for garnishing
  16. Coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions

  1. First, knead a soft and pliable dough by adding salt and water and keep it aside.
  2. Second, option for this is to prepare dough as and when you make millet chapati or Rotla.
  3. Take small balls and roll it into chapati or make Rotlo in a traditional way by using your palm and patting it on the platform.

  6. Let it cool.
  7. Once it is cooled completely crumble it roughly.
  8. Take a pan. Add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and let it splutter.
  9. To it add chopped onions, tomato, and garlic. Add chopped green chilies. Saute it well till the raw smell of onion and garlic goes away.
  10. Now add crumbled mixture of millet chapati and give it a mix.
  11. Add salt, turmeric powder, chilly powder, cumin powder, garam masala and coriander powder.
  12. Sprinkle little water so that the masala coats everything uniformly.
  13. Stir it nicely and take it in a serving bowl.
  14. Garnish it with scallions and coriander leaves and serve hot.
  15. It's irresistible and amazing.
  16. Note: Preparing Rotlos a day before, refrigerating it and then preparing this dish makes it even more delicious.
