ABOUT Idli with fried onion RECIPE

Have your regular idli with fried onion & onion tomato chutney.Its delucious.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For idli batter...1 cup small grain rice
  2. 1 cup Basmati rice
  3. 1/4 cup poha
  4. 1/2 cup whole urad daal
  5. 1/2tspn fenugreek seeds
  6. salt
  7. 2 big onion
  8. oil


  1. Make idli batter first.Soak urad daal, fenugreek seeds & poha together in a bowl with water for 4 to 5 hrs.
  2. Soak both rice in a bowl with water for about 4 to 5 hours.
  3. Drain excess water & grind the daal mixture until it become a smooth paste.If needed add some water.
  4. Drain excess water from rice & grind it until slightly coarse texture.
  5. Now mix both the mixture.Add salt.Batter should not be too thick or too thin.
  6. Fry some onion
  7. Add fried onion to idli batter
  8. Now pour 1 spn batter in each idli mould & cook it for 3 mins in microoven.Its ready to serve now
  9. Serve it with onion tomato chutney.
