ABOUT Khaman Dhokla RECIPE

It is a famous breakfast and snack of Gujrat and very popular in India. Dhokla is readily available in every part of the country and also sold as a frozen snack. Preparing dhokla is really simple and it is usually served at a room temperature.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 2 cups besan /gram flour
  2. 2 tablespoon sooji
  3. pinch of hing
  4. 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  5. 1 teaspoon ginger - garlic paste
  6. chopped green chillies
  7. salt to taste
  8. 4 tablespoon curd
  9. 2 tablespoon Oil
  10. 5 teaspoon lime juice
  11. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  12. 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  13. For tempering : 2 taspoon oil
  14. 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  15. 3 split green chillies
  16. few curry leaves
  17. 1 teaspoon sugar (optional) not needed
  18. few coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl add besan, sooji, hing, turmeric powder, ginger-garlic, green chilli and salt.
  2. Mix well now, add curd, oil, little by little water, mix thoroughly and make batter.
  3. Add 3 tablespoon of lime juice, 1 pinch sugar, baking soda, baking powder and mix.
  4. Now grease the bowl or tiffin box with oil.
  5. Turn immediately pour the mixture into the box.
  6. Finally place it in the steamer/kadahi with half of water put stand and place the tiffin box and steam for 25 minutes.
  7. Transfer it into a plate and cut into desired pieces.
  8. For tempering : Heat a pan add Mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves, split green chillies, sugar.
  9. Now garnish the dhokla with this and sprinkle coriander leaves.
  10. Dhokla are usually served at room temperature. I love them if it is slightly warm.
