Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Toor Dal : 1cup.
  2. Raw Mango. : 1.
  3. Green Chillies. : 2.
  4. Turmeric. : 1/2 spoon.
  5. Red Chilly Powder. : 1spoon.
  6. Salt. : 1&1/2 spoon.
  7. Ghee. : 1spoon.
  8. Oil. : 2spoons.
  9. Water. : 4cups.
  10. For Tadka:
  11. Bengal gram(Chana dal). : 1spoon.
  12. Urad dal. : 1spoon.
  13. Mustard seeds. : 1spoon.
  14. Cumin. : 1spoon.
  15. Asafoetida ( Hing). : 1/2 spoon
  16. Curry Leaves : Handful.


  1. First of all wash raw mango and peel it's skin and cut into medium slices.
  2. Now take a pan and roast toor dal on a medium flame without oil for 2minutes. Now wash the roasted toor dal thoroughly with water.
  3. Now place cooker on a medium flame with this washed toor dal and four cups water and let it boil for 5 minutes without keeping lid. Add turmeric and ghee to get quickly cooked.
  4. After 5minutes, add mango slices, slitted green chillies into the cooker and cover it with it's lid and whistle. Now cook it on a high flame. Wait for 5whistles.
  5. After 5 whistles, switch off the stove and wait for the cooker to get cooled. When it gets cooled remove it's lid. Now add red chilli powder and salt to it and mix properly and boil it for a minute on a medium flame.
  6. Heat a pan with oil on a low flame. When the oil gets hot, add Bengal gram, Urad dal, mustard seeds, cumin and Asafoetida. Saute them until they turns golden brown Now add Curry leaves and saute them until they becomes crispy. Now add this tadka mixture to the dal and serve it with Rice or Chapati.
