About Samosa Recipe

Ingredients to make Samosa

  •  For the dough    (1cup=250ml)      
  • 2 cups all purpose flour (Maida)
  •  1 tsp carrom seeds (ajwain)
  • 5 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste
  • water as required
  • For stuffing
  • 3 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • 5 potatoes boiled, peeled
  • 1 inch ginger chopped
  • 2 green chillies chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Dried mango powder (amchoor)
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • coriander leaves
  • salt to taste.

How to make Samosa

  1. In a large mixing bowl, take maida and add ajwain, salt and oil.
  2. Mix it well to make a crumbled mixture.
  3.  Now by adding water, knead it into a stiff dough.
  4. Heat oil in a pan.add cumin seeds.
  5. Add mashed potatoes, masala powders and green chillies.
  6. For shaping the samosa, make a 5 inch diameter circle with some dough and cut it into 2 halves.
  7. Now take one semi circle and join two corners of straight line to form a cone.
  8. Place a tablespoon of stuffing in the cone and apply water at the edges to seal it.
  9. Fry these beauties and serve hot with green chutney and tamarind chutney.

My Tip:

Always fry samosas on medium flame. Frying on high flame may result in formation of air bubbles on samosa.
