ABOUT Gujrati kadi and khichdi RECIPE

Its gujrati spicy meal. Khichdi Rich in flavours and kadi with soothing flavours. This kadi is also a great appetizer.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For kadi:
  2. Curd 2 cup
  3. Gram flour 3 tablespoons
  4. Ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon
  5. Mustard seeds 1 tablespoon
  6. Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  7. Asfetoida 2pinch
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Whole red chillies 2
  10. Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon or to taste
  11. Ghee 2 tablespoons
  12. curry leaves 6
  13. Garam masala 1 teaspoon
  14. For khichdi:
  15. Yellow moong dal 1/2 Cup
  16. Rice 1/2 cup
  17. Ghee 2 tablespoons
  18. Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  19. Mustard seed 1 teaspoon
  20. Cloves 2
  21. Cinnamon Stick 1
  22. Bay leaves 2
  23. Green peas 1/2 cup
  24. Cauliflower florets 1/4 cup
  25. Brinjal 1/4 cup
  26. French beans chopped 1/4 cup
  27. Potato 1/2 cup
  28. Tomatoes 2 chopped
  29. Onion 1 chopped
  30. garam masala 1 tablespoon
  31. Salt to taste
  32. Green chilli 2 chopped
  33. Red Chilli powder 1 teaspoon or to taste

Instructions

  1. For kadi:
  2. Mix curd and gram flour and whisk well. So that no lumps made add 3cups of water. Keep aside.
  3. Now heat ghee add mustard seeds, curry leaves, cumin seeds, asfetoida and whole red chillies. Add ginger garlic paste. And saute.
  4. When it's done add salt, red chilli powder cook for 1 mintue. Now add curd mixture. And mix well. Add garam masala.
  5. Cook for 15 mintues on low flame. Stir occasionally. Your kadi is ready.
  6. For khichdi:
  7. Heat ghee in pressure cooker add cloves, cinnamon, cumin seeds, mustard seeds,
  8. After this add chopped vegetables, and saute for 5 minute.
  9. Now add salt, green chillies, ginger, garlic paste and saute.
  10. Add rice and dal, mix well. Add 4 cups of water and cook till 3 whistles.
  11. When pressure is cool down then add garam masala . your khichdi is ready.
