Ingredients to make Peanut/Verkadalai papad

  • Papad/Appalam of any choice( i used 2)
  • Roasted peanuts/Varutha verkadalai handful
  • Green/pudina chutney(optional)
  • onion/ Vengayam 3 tbsp
  • carrot 1 n hlf tbsp
  • salt as needed
  • lime juice 2 drops
  • coriander leaves 2 tsp( i dint find it in my home so omitted it. Please do add it cz it lifts the dish to a separate level)

How to make Peanut/Verkadalai papad

  1. Roast the peanuts. Make sure you don't burn them. I had broken the peanuts into half.
  2. Now cut the onion finely and grate the carrot.
  3. Make the papad. I prefer to bake them as it is more healthy. Moreover i have not tried this dish with fried papad. Do tell me how it was by using a fried papad.
  4. Take a bowl. Add the roasted peanuts onion carrot coriander leaves salt and add the lemon juice to it. Give a good mix.
  5. Now grease the papad with green chutney or green chilli sauce or red chilli sauce in small amount but I feel the sauce doesn't suit or go much (especially the green chilli sauce) with the mixture and tends to dominate the peanuts flavour.
  6. Make sure the chutney is not too spicy and mind about the salt in it as the mixture also calls for salt. This step is purely optional.
  7. Now put the mixture onto the papad and serve it right away! :blush: n one more thing, consume it immediately as the papad will bcm soggy soon.

My Tip:

Peanuts can be added according to your taste. Make sure you don't add too much of lemon juice to it and coriander leaves are a must.
