ABOUT Begun Basanti RECIPE

A traditional Bengali recipe with bringal.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Bringal - 4 , cut length wise
  2. Curd - 3 tbsp
  3. Mustard paste - 1 1/2 tbsp
  4. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Sugar - 1/2 tsp
  7. Green chili - 2

Instructions

  1. Marinate bringal with little salt and turmeric for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Then heat a pan with with 1 tbsp mustard oil.
  3. Add bringal and fry both sides till light brown.
  4. Meanwhile take a bowl .add mustard paste, curd , turmeric powder, salt and sugar... make a paste of that.
  5. After frying bringal add this mustard paste mixture and green chili into the pan.give a good mix.
  6. Add little water ..bring to bubble..simmer the gas and cover it for 2-3 minutes.
  7. After 3 minutes if oil leaves side of the pan and gravy reduced means its done.
  8. Check seasoning...serve Begun Basanti with steam rice..
