Bottle Gourd is known in different names and cultivated worldwide. It is consumed raw in the form of salad or preparing variety of dishes. Healthy and reach in dietary fibers, Vitamin C, riboflavin, zinc, thiamine, iron, magnesium and manganese. I have prepared Chutney, using bottle gourd peel, roasted peanuts, chili and garlic. Simple, healthy and quick to make this chutney tastes awesome. It goes well with Dal rice or Chapati. We generally throw away bottle gourd peel rather can use it preparing delicious chutney.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Bottle Gourd Peel– ½ cup
  2. Roasted Peanuts – ¼ cup
  3. Garlic cloves– 3-4
  4. Green chili – 3 broken
  5. Fresh Grated Coconut – 1tbsp
  6. Salt - As per taste


  1. Heat pan or Kadai. Dry roast Peanuts if not roasted on medium low flame. No need to remove peel.
  2. Add broken green chilies, garlic and bottle gourd peels. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add grated coconut and salt. Mix well. Cook for another 1 minutes. Keep stirring in between.
  4. Remove and let it cool. Blend in a blender into coarse paste.
  5. Serve with Chapati, Dal rice or Bhakari.
