ABOUT Bottle gourd raita RECIPE

A no fuss recioe can be made yum with use of minimal ingredients.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Bottle gourd or lauki 500 grams peeled and cubed
  2. Oil 2 tablespoon
  3. Jeera 1/2 teaspoon
  4. Rye 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Green chillies 2 finely chopped
  7. Hing 1/4 teaspoon
  8. Coriander leaves to garnish
  9. Whole red chilli 1
  10. Whisked curd 1 bowl
  11. Red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon
  12. Bay leaf 2
  13. Finely chopped onion 1
  14. Finely chopped garlic 3_4 cloves

Instructions

  1. Boil the bottle gourd pieces in a cooker for three whistles
  2. Let the cooker cool down
  3. Drain the water and squeeze out water from the bottle gourd with help of palms
  4. Heat oil in a pan
  5. Crackle jeera and rye
  6. Add hing
  7. Add whole red chilli and bay leaves
  8. Add onion and garlic and finely chopped green chillies
  9. When done add the bottle gourd
  10. Add salt and red chilli powder
  11. Mix well and cook for 3 to 4 mins
  12. Switch off the gas
  13. When cooled add the whisked curd and coriander leaves
  14. Serve with chapattis or pulao
