ABOUT Chatpata Puffed Quinoa ( Churmuri) RECIPE

Churmuri or sukhi bhel is a crunchy, spicy and tangy snack made with puffed rice. I got a packet of puffed quinoa from abroad and I gave it a try using that instead. It is a popular street food of India and is usually served in paper cones. In Kolkata it is called Jhal Muri and they use mustard oil for seasoning.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Puffed quinoa - 3 cups
  2. Roasted peanuts - 2 tbsps
  3. Onion - 3 tbsps ( finely chopped)
  4. Green chillies - 1 or 2 ( finely chopped)
  5. Coriander leaves - finely chopped
  6. Salt - to taste
  7. Red chilli powder- 1/2 tsp.
  8. Turmeric powder - 1/8 tsp
  9. Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
  10. Oil - 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add turmeric powder. Immediately stir in the puffed quinoa.. Keep stirring until they become crunchy.
  2. Stir in the remaining ingredients.
  3. Check the salt and finally squeeze in the lime juice. Serve immediately.
