Bombay sandwich is a quick vegetable sandwich that can be assembled in just a few minutes. These sandwiches are not only common on the streets of Mumbai but also popular in many Indian restaurants. Bombay sandwich is much liked for its simple ingredients and spicy taste.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Bread slices - 4
  2. Boiled and peeled potato slices - 2 medium
  3. Capsicum (cut into rings) - 1
  4. Cucumber (cut into slices) - 1
  5. Tomatoes (cut into slices) - 2
  6. Onion (cut into slices) - 1
  7. Processed cheese - As required
  8. Green chutney - 3-4 tablespoons
  9. Seasonings
  10. Chaat masala - as per teaste
  11. Salt - as per taste
  12. Black pepper - as per taste
  13. Oil - 1 teaspoon
  14. Butter - 1 tablespoon
  15. Tomato ketchup - To serve


  1. Place a bread on a clean and dry place.
  2. Spread green chutney on a slice and arrange potato, capsicum and season with chaat masala, salt and black pepper.
  3. Grate processed cheese over it and cover with another bread slice.
  4. Apply green chutney on the bread on top and arrange cucumber, tomato slices over it. and season with salt, chaat masala and black pepper.
  5. Grate some more cheese and cover with another slice of bread.
  6. Again apply green chutney, arrange onion slice season with salt, chaat masala and black pepper.
  7. Grate some cheese and cover with another bread slice.
  8. Heat oil and butter in a pan. Place the sandwich on it. Let it turn brown. Flip it over carefully, and let the other side also turn brown.
  9. Cut the sandwich into pieces using a sharp knife.
  10. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
