Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Besan/ gram flour 2 cups
  2. Asafoetida/hing 1/4 teaspoon
  3. Oil 3 tablespoon
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Water as required (1/2 cup approx)
  6. Oil to fry


  1. Mix flour, asafoetida and salt in a bowl
  2. Add oil and mix well
  3. Add water slowly to make a soft and smooth dough
  4. Cover the dough and allow to rest for 10 minutes
  5. Grease the sev maker with attachment
  6. Fill the dough in sev maker
  7. Heat oil in a pan on medium heat
  8. When oil becomes hot, hold the sev maker over pan and press the handle
  9. Sev will start coming out into the oil
  10. Slowly move the sev maker in circular motion
  11. As you complete one circle, stop
  12. Fry both sides till they becomes light golden colour and oil will stop sizzling
  13. Take them out on absorbent paper
  14. Continue the same process for remaining dough
  15. Let the sev cool completely and store in an air tight container
