ABOUT Puffed rice chivada RECIPE

Kurmura, murmura or puffed rice – it is the perfect ingredient to make a healthy snack. In this recipe puffed rice is tossed in a tempering made with mustard oil and spices along with peanuts and dried coconut flakes or khopra. This healthy chivda makes is quick to make and is perfect along with chai or just to munch on when you are hungry.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Puffed Rice roasted 6 cups
  2. Asafoetida a pinch
  3. Oil 3 tablespoon
  4. Mustard seed 1/4 teaspoon
  5. Turmericpowder 1 teaspoon
  6. Green chilli slit 3
  7. Curry leaves 3 sprigs
  8. Roasted chana dal 1/2 cup
  9. Dry cocount thinly sliced 1/2 cup
  10. Peanuts fried 1/2 cups
  11. Powder sugar 3 tablespoon
  12. Corn flakes 1/2 cup
  13. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a kadai. Add asafoetida, mustard seeds and turmeric powder. When the mustard seeds crackle add green chillies and curry leaves and sauté till the curry leaves become crisp.
  2. Add roasted chana dal and sauté for a minute. Add dry coconut slices and sauté for another mixture.
  3. Add puffed rice and mix well. Add salt, fried peanuts and mix well.
  4. Lastly Add powdered sugar and mix well.
  5. Cool completely and store in an airtight tin.
