Ingredients to make Naan

  • refined flour (maida) 500 grams
  • baking powder 2 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • oil 1/4 cup
  • egg 1
  • milk 1/4 cup
  • curd 1/4 cup
  • sugar to taste
  • water 1/4 cup
  • nigella seeds 1 tsp (kalonji)

How to make Naan

  1. Sieve flour, mix salt and baking powder. Beat the eggs with sugar and milk and pour it over the flour. Mix well
  2. Add cold water and mix well; make a smooth dough. Add oil and knead well to make it a stiff smooth dough
  3. Add salt and curd and knead again. And keep it aside for min 60mins.
  4. Divide the dough into even sized balls. Brush over the dough with a little bit of oil, and let it rest for 15mins again.
  5. Shape each portion in a circular shape with hand
  6. Smear the top of naan with nigella seeds and bake in tandoor till it cooks through (should take 4 to 5 mins)

My Tip:

You can do without the nigella seeds also, it is just for garnishing.
