Ingredients to make Chicken kurma

  • 1/2 kg chicken
  • 4 onions
  • 8 green chillies
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1\2 inch cinnamon
  • Black pepper powder 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder- a pinch
  • yogurt 1\2 cup
  • oil 5 tbsp
  • Few mint leaves
  • 1\2 lemon
  • salt to taste
  • 1 maggie cube
  • A pinch of yellow food colour
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1/2 bunch of coriander leaves

How to make Chicken kurma

  1. Take a vessel, heat oil, then add cinnamon, cloves and green chilies. Fry these ingredients together for 1 minute.
  2. Next add onions and fry till they turn golden brown.
  3. Then add ginger-garlic paste and fry it for another 2 mins.
  4. After this time, add in turmeric powder, black pepper powder, the maggie cube and fry for 1 min.
  5. Now add in the chopped tomatoes and coriander leaves. Fry and cook till the tomatoes get mashed and add salt to taste.
  6. Finally add in the chicken and once it is almost cooked add in the yogurt and cook for another 5 to 10 mins.
  7. When the chicken gets boiled lastly add the lemon and yellow colour. Finally garnish it with onion or capsicum slices as you desire.
  8. Serve it with chapatis, parotas, naan or rice.

My Tip:

If you want to cook the onion quickly till it turns golden brown then add a pinch of baking soda.
