ABOUT Karela Besan Subzi RECIPE

My family love Bitter gourd in any form. Either subzi, sambar, pitlai or fry i prepare every week at home. Its simple besan subzi prepared with baby bitter gourds.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Bitter gourd 500 gms - thinly sliced in roundels
  2. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Besan 1 tbsp
  5. Red chili powder 1.5 tsp
  6. For seasoning- coconut oil 2 tsp
  7. Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  8. urad dal 1 tsp
  9. Hing - 1/8 tsp
  10. curry leaves - 7-8

Instructions

  1. Prepare Seasoning with oil, mustard, Urad dal and Curry leaves
  2. Add bitter gourd and mix well
  3. Add salt and Turmeric. Mix well. Add little water. Cover and close for 5 mins on medium flame
  4. Add 1.5 TSP red chili powder and besan. Mix well. Cook for 3 minutes
  5. Serve hot with rice
