Moringa (drumstick) leaves is found throughout the year.It's very healthy , rich in iron and diabetic friendly.This recipe is passed down from generation to generation.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Fresh moringa leaves 2 cup
  2. Moong dal 1/2 cup
  3. Freshly grated coconut 1/2 cup
  4. Red chili 3
  5. Garlic cloves 8 -10 crushed
  6. Sugar/Jaggery 1/2 tsp
  7. Oil 1 tbsp
  8. Mustard seed 1/2 tsp
  9. Salt to taste


  1. In a pan, half roast the moong dal and cook it in 1/2 cup of water till they are soft.
  2. Add moringa leaves , salt, Jaggery and cook till the water evaporates completely.Keep it aside.
  3. In another pan heat oil.Add crushed garlic, crushed dry red chili and mustard seed.When it crackles add the boiled moong dal and moringa leaves to the seasoning.
  4. Garnish with grated coconut and serve hot
