Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Spinach- 1 cup
  2. Maida - 150 gm
  3. Jaggery powder- 11/2 tsp
  4. Salt- required
  5. Grated Coconut - 2 tbsp
  6. Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
  7. Cheese Blocks as required- optional
  8. curry leaves 6-7
  9. oil 1 tbsp + additional for greasing


  1. Blanch spinach and grind to smooth puree
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds and add curry leaves, grated coconut and Saute for 2 min. Switch off
  3. Add spinach puree to flour
  4. Add salt, jaggery powder , seasoning to the flour and mix well
  5. Add water to form thick Idli type batter
  6. Heat greased paniyaram pan over low flame
  7. Pour little batter and add cheese blocks, again pour the batter over it.
  8. Once done, Flip it over to cook another side.
  9. Serve it with sauce or coconut chutney.
