Matar ki Kheer

Ingredients to make Matar ki Kheer

  • Shelled green peas - 1 cup
  • Milk - 1 litre
  • ghee 2 tsp
  • sugar to taste
  • cardamom powder 1 tsp
  • pistachio and almond chopped 2 tsp
  • saffron milk 1 tsp
  • Few saffron strands for garnish

How to make Matar ki Kheer

  1. Boil green peas until tender. Wash under cold water and grind to a fine paste.Heat ghee in a thick-bottomed pan, add the green matar paste and cook for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Keep it aside
  2. In a kadhai, boil the milk and add matar mixture Mix well. Simmer and cook until milk has reduced to half of its original quantity. Keep stirring continuously.
  3. Add sugar and mix well
  4. Add cardamom powder , chopped Pistachio and almond mix well .  
  5. Soak saffron in 3 tbsp warm milk for 15 minutes. Add saffron milk and Mix well. Cook for 5 minutes over low heat
  6. Matar kheer is ready! Serve hot or chilled as desired
