Peyaj Shaker Tel Jhal

Ingredients to make Peyaj Shaker Tel Jhal

  • spring onion - 5 to 6 , cleaned and cut into 1 inch pieces
  • potato - 2 medium, elongated slices
  • Brinjal (Bharta) - 1 Medium size, elongated slices
  • tomato - 1 small, sliced
  • Green chili - 2
  • coriander Powder - 11/2 teaspoon
  • cumin Powder - 11/2 teaspoon
  • Red Chili Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • turmeric - 1 teaspoon
  • sugar - 1/2 teaspoon
  • salt to taste
  • mustard Oil - 5 to 6 tablespoon
  • Nigella Seeds - 1/2 teaspoon

How to make Peyaj Shaker Tel Jhal

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add nigella seeds.
  2. Once it starts crackling, add potato and brinjal pieces and mix well
  3. Simmer, cover and cook for 5 minutes
  4. Now in a bowl , add turmeric powder (1/2 teaspoon), coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder and sugar and little water , mix well to form thick paste and keep it aside
  5. Add salt and remaining turmeric powder to veggies and mix well
  6. Add chopped green chilies ,chopped tomatoes and cook until tomatoes are mushy
  7. Now add the spice mix paste and mix well. Cook for 3-4 minutes
  8. Add chopped spring onions and mix. Cover and cook until tender
  9. Add salt and mix well. Switch off once water has almost evaporated
  10. Serve hot with plain rice.
