ABOUT Broken wheat kichdi. RECIPE

This is a simple & healthy breakfast of south India. This can be made veg kichdi by adding different vegetables, like chopped carrots cabbage & beans. . But I made it plain only with some chick pea dal & grated coconut.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Cooked broken wheat 2 tea cups
  2. boiled chick pea dal 1 tbsp. (optional)
  3. Grated coconut 2 tbsp
  4. oil 2 tbsp
  5. Chopped onion 1
  6. ginger chopped.a small piece.
  7. Mustard seeds 1/2tsp
  8. red chillies 3.
  9. urud dal 1/4 tsp
  10. Salt as required

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan with oil. add mustard seeds & urud dal. fry well
  2. then add curry leaves & chopped red chillies.
  3. add chopped onion to the pan & fry well.
  4. then add chick pea dal & cooked broken wheat. fry well.
  5. adjust salt.
  6. sprinkle coconut & cook for some more time on slow fire.
  7. serve hot with some pickle or coconut chutney.
