ABOUT Aviri kudum RECIPE

This is our andhra traditional dish. My elders say that when person is weak, we we give this dish to eat they would gain strength quickly.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Urad dal. : 500 grms
  2. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak urad dal for 4 hrs.
  2. After 4 hrs clean the dal and grind as smooth as idly batter.
  3. While grinding add salt.
  4. Take a steamer or an idli cooker, with the idly plate with 4 cavities.
  5. Take a large thin white cloth so that whole plate is covered with the cloth.
  6. Pour the batter and close it with same cloth if it is large enough, or you can use another piece of similar cloth.
  7. Repeat the same with all plates.
  8. On medium flame cook it for 5 mins.
  9. Check once if the aviri kudum is cooked evenly, if not , then steam it for another 2 mins.
  10. You can serve this hot with some ghee on top.
  11. Any spicy powder will be good for this kudum
