ABOUT Dal pakvan RECIPE

This is a traditional breakfast of Sindhi people.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For Dal:
  2. 1 cup chana dal soaked for 30 mins in warm water
  3. 1 tbsp oil
  4. 1/4 tsp hing
  5. 1/4 tsp Jeera
  6. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  7. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  8. 1/2 tsp dhaniya-jeera powder
  9. 1 medium size onion chopped
  10. 1 TOMATO CHOPPED
  11. Salt to taste
  12. For extra flavouring:
  13. Mithi chutney
  14. Green spicy chutney
  15. Chopped Onions
  16. Chopped coriander leaves
  17. Add the flavouring according to your choice/taste
  18. For Pakvan:
  19. 1 cup maida
  20. 1 cup gehun ka atta
  21. 1/2 tsp ajwain seeds
  22. 1/4 tsp jeera powder
  23. Salt to taste
  24. 2 tbsp oil or ghee

Instructions

  1. For dal: Pressure cook the dal with 2 whistles and on slow flame for 5 mins.
  2. For tempering : heat oil in a pan add jeera till it crackles then add chopped onion n tomato and cook them properly. Add hing and other dry masalas.
  3. Add the cooked dal to the pan add some water and salt to taste cook on slow flame.
  4. While serving first put the dal then methi chutney, green chutney chopped onions and chopped coriander leaves.
  5. For pakvan: Mix all ingredients Knead a dough like paratha using water. Keep aside for 10 minuets. Roll thin poories and prick the puris with knife or fork.
  6. Deep fry in hot oil on medium heat Light golden fry kare till it's crispy!
