Lauki paratha is a traditional breakfast recipe of our family. Lauki is a very nutritious vegetable but kids generally don't like lauki, but in this paratha taste of lauki does not felt. These paratha are equally nutritious and tasty.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 2 cups grated lauki
  2. Pinch of Asafoetida
  3. Salt according to the taste
  4. Red chilli 1/2 t.spoon
  5. 2 tablespoons coriander
  6. 1/2 teaspoons ajwain(carom seeds
  7. ghee
  8. 2 cups whole wheat flour
  9. 1 chopped onion
  10. 1/2 tea spoon khatai


  1. Rinse, peel and then grate lauki.
  2. Squeeze the excess water from the lauki.
  3. Add chopped onion, coriander, red chilli powder, salt, carom seeds, asafoetida, khatai and mix them well.
  4. Knead the whole wheat flour well.
  5. Take two small balls of the dough and roll them in a small size chapati.
  6. Put 2 tablespoons of filling on the first chapati.
  7. Cover it with the second chapati and roll it carefully with the rolling pin. Dust some flour while rolling if required.
  8. Place the lauki paratha on a hot Tava. When one side is partly cooked, flip it.
  9. Spread some ghee on partly cooked paratha, flip again and spread some ghee on another side.
  10. Roast till paratha cooked and you see some golden brown spots on the paratha.
  11. Serve hot with achar, and curd.
