ABOUT Amla chutney RECIPE

A simple healthy chutney goes well with dosa idli or even rice. amla is a treasure chest of medicinal properties.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. amla 3 .
  2. coconut 1 cup
  3. gram dal 1 tbsp
  4. green chillies 3
  5. salt.
  6. oil 1 tsp
  7. For tempering
  8. oil 1tsp
  9. mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
  10. red chilli 1
  11. curry leaves a few.


  1. boil amla in some water adding turmeric powder for 3 min.
  2. remove. when cool, remove seeds & cut into small pieces.
  3. heat a kadai with 1tsp of oil. add channa dal & fry for a few min.
  4. then add green chillies .again fry.
  5. then add coconut & amla pieces. fry well for another 2 ,3 min without changing the colour of coconut.
  6. let it cool.
  7. grind everything in a blender adding salt.
  8. heat a small kadai with oil. put mustard seeds , red chilli & curry leaves.
  9. add to the chutney.
