ABOUT chick pea biriyani. RECIPE

A simple delicious biriyani with channa. I used white channa.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. chick pea soaked & boiled 1 1/2 cups.
  2. Basmati rice 2 cups
  3. Water 3 1/2 cups
  4. Onion 2 sliced
  5. Green chillies 2 chopped
  6. Tomato 2 big
  7. Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  8. chilli powder 1 tsp
  9. Coriander powder 1 1/2tsp
  10. Turmeric 1/4 tsp
  11. Garam masala 1/4 tsp
  12. whole garam masala ( 2 cardamom, 2 cloves, 1 small piece cinnamon )
  13. Curd 1/2 cup
  14. Salt
  15. coriander leaves 1 1/2 cup chopped
  16. oil 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. wash & soak rice for 1/2 an hr
  2. heat a pan with oil. add ginger garlic paste .fry well.
  3. then put whole garam masala. fry for a few sec.
  4. then add onion & chillies. fry till done.
  5. then put chopped tomatoes. cook till tomatoes r well mashed.
  6. then add cooked channa along with all masalas , salt & curd.
  7. cook till gravy is very thick absorbing all moisture .
  8. then put rice & fry everything for a few min.
  9. I then transferred everything to a rice cooker. added 3 1/2 cups of water & cooked.
  10. take when it s a bit cold or rice will get mashed .
  11. add some more coriander leaves , cashew & kismis. stir. carefully. if u want u can add fried onions.
  12. serve hot with pickle & raita.
