ABOUT Moong Dal Khichdi RECIPE

Moong dal khichdi is highly nutritious and full of fiber and protein .Easy to digest for kids and adults both.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Rice 1/2 cup
  2. Yellow Moong dal 1/2 cup
  3. Salt 1/2 tablespoon
  4. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  5. Water 3 cups
  6. For Tempering:
  7. Clarified Butter 1 tbsp
  8. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  9. Asafoetida 1 pinch
  10. Red chilly powder 1/4 tsp
  11. For Garnish :
  12. Fresh coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Wash rice and yellow moong dal in water .
  2. Soak washed dal and rice in water for about 30 minutes.
  3. Add soaked moong dal and rice in pressure cooker with salt , turmeric powder and 3 cups of water.
  4. Cook at medium heat for 3-4 whistles.
  5. Once done allow to cool down in until pressure goes down and lid opens easily.
  6. Stir well so that no lumps exist.
  7. For Tempering:
  8. In a tadka pan add clarified butter , allow it to heat up on low flame.
  9. Add cumin seeds , asafoetida, red chilly powder and switch of the flame when cumin seeds start to splutter.
  10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot .
