Ingredients to make Kadalai curry ( black chenna curry)

  • Boiled black chenna - 1 cup
  • oil - 1 tbsp
  • Sliced onions - 1 cup
  • Chopped tomatoes - 1/2 cup
  • Green chilli - 1
  • chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Small onion paste - 2 tsp
  • Boiled black chenna paste - 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • water - 1 cup
  • lime juice - 1 tsp
  • jaggery - a pinch (optional)
  • bay leaf - 1
  • cinnamon - 2 small pieces

How to make Kadalai curry ( black chenna curry)

  1. Take kadai, add oil. When it is hot temperature with bayleaf and cinnamon. After that add onions and green chilli. Saute for 2 minutes.
  2. Now, add ginger garlic paste. Saute till the raw smell goes.
  3. Add the onion paste. Saute till the raw smell goes.
  4. Now add the tomatoes. Add tumeric and salt. Saute till the tomatoes is smashed.
  5. Now add the boiled chenna and all the spice powders and jaggery. Mix well and add the water.
  6. Now bring the curry to boil and now add the black chenna paste. Boil this curry for a minute. Switch off the stove. Finally add the lemon juice. And mix well.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves.

Best served with puri, chappathi and appam...
