ABOUT Kadalai curry ( black chenna curry) RECIPE

This curry is prepared without coconut and is a perfect side dish to be served with rice & dal or some roti as well.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Boiled black chenna - 1 cup
  2. Oil - 1 tbsp
  3. Sliced onions - 1 cup
  4. Chopped tomatoes - 1/2 cup
  5. Green chilli - 1
  6. Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  7. Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  8. Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  9. Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  10. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  11. Small onion paste - 2 tsp
  12. Boiled black chenna paste - 1 tsp
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Water - 1 cup
  15. Lime juice - 1 tsp
  16. Jaggery - a pinch (optional)
  17. Bay leaf - 1
  18. Cinnamon - 2 small pieces

Instructions

  1. Take kadai, add oil. When it is hot temperature with bayleaf and cinnamon. After that add onions and green chilli. Saute for 2 minutes.
  2. Now, add ginger garlic paste. Saute till the raw smell goes.
  3. Add the onion paste. Saute till the raw smell goes.
  4. Now add the tomatoes. Add tumeric and salt. Saute till the tomatoes is smashed.
  5. Now add the boiled chenna and all the spice powders and jaggery. Mix well and add the water.
  6. Now bring the curry to boil and now add the black chenna paste. Boil this curry for a minute. Switch off the stove. Finally add the lemon juice. And mix well.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves.
