Dates and Tamarind Chutney...(Sour and Sweet)

Ingredients to make Dates and Tamarind Chutney...(Sour and Sweet)

  • dates pitted 1 cup
  • tamarind 1/4th cup
  • Roasted cumin powder 1 tsp
  • red chilli POWDER 1 TBSP
  • salt 1 tsp
  • Sugar 4 tbsp or jaggery 1/2 cup
  • water 2 cups
  • Dry ginger powder (Saunth) 1/4th tsp

How to make Dates and Tamarind Chutney...(Sour and Sweet)

  1. Add tamarind and dates to a pan along with water.
  2. Also add the rest of the ingredients except sugar.
  3. Simmer on medium high heat.
  4. After the mix softens in about 10 minutes, add sugar and mix well.
  5. Let it cool down a bit.
  6. Blend into a smooth semi solid paste and store in an airtight container.
  7. Use it according to taste and preference.
  8. Make it thin by adding little water whenever you need a thinner consistency chutney.
