Stuffed idli

Ingredients to make Stuffed idli

  • For Idli batter:
  • rice 1/2 cup
  • Split urad dal 1/2 cup
  • Poha 1/4 cup
  • methi seeds 1/4 teaspoon
  • salt to taste
  • Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon
  • Eno fruit salt 1 pack
  • For stuffing:
  • potatoes boiled and peeled 3
  • onion 1/2 chopped
  • ginger grated 1 teaspoon
  • tomato 1 chopped
  • coriander leaves 2 tablespoon
  • green chillies 2 chopped
  • salt to taste
  • Red chili powder 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala 1/2 teaspoon
  • cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  • Chat masala 1 teaspoon
  • oil 2 tablespoon
  • Green peas 1/2 cup

How to make Stuffed idli

  1. Soak ingredients except poha for making idli batter for 6 hours. After 6 hours put into mixer alongwith poha and make idli batter.
  2. Keep aside for fermentation overnight. Add oil into a pan.add cumin seeds and chopped onion. Stir constantly and cook till onion become translucent add ginger, chopped tomato.. Add peas and salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder. Mix well. When peas are soft add mashed potatoes. Mix well cook for 5 mintues add garam masala, chopped green chillies, and coriander leaves and chat masala.
  3. After cooling make small tikkis from stuffing and keep aside.
  4. Add salt, eno and pepper into idli batter mix well. Grease an idli stand and heat a steamer. Pour 1 tablespoon of idli batter in all moulds and place stuffing tikkis in each mould .
  5. Again pour idli batter to cover the stuffing. Put the mould into the Steamer. Cook for 12 minutes.
  6. When it is done remove idlis from mould and let it cool. Serve with chutney of your choice.

My Tip:

You can add more veggies of your choice
