I have learnt this tasty dish from my friend and here is the recipe.

Chicken karahi

Ingredients to make Chicken karahi

  • chicken-1 bowl
  • butter-1
  • Thick yogurt-1 bowl
  • Grounded masala: Cumin seed-1 tsp
  • Whole red chillies- 2
  • garlic-3
  • Homemade garam masala-1 and 1/2 tsp
  • ginger-1 inch
  • pepper corns- 1/2 tsp
  • coriander seed-1 tsp
  • tomatoes-2 medium sized
  • A pinch of red color
  • Kasuri methi-2 tsp
  • coriander leaves-2 tbsp

How to make Chicken karahi

  1. Take a wok, heat butter then add the chicken and fry for 4 mins. After this time, remove the chicken and set it aside.
  2. In the same butter, add the grounded masala (cumin, coriander, red chillies, pepper corns, garlic, ginger and grind it without water). Add this masala and saute, then add the chopped tomatoes, salt and saute well till the tomatoes are cooked.
  3. Next, add the chicken, thick yoghurt, garam masla powder, kasuri methi and cook.
  4. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it hot with paranthas or butter naan.

My Tip:

You can also try cooking this dish with paneer, mutton, but you need to either cook mutton with salt or add grated raw papaya while cooking mutton.
