About Mawa gujiya Recipe

Holi is incomplete without gujiya. Enjoy these homemade mawa gujiya with the festival of colours.

Ingredients to make Mawa gujiya

  • For the covering
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • water, as required
  • For the filling
  • 1/2 cup mawa
  • 2 tbsp dessicated coconut
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp chironji
  • 2 tbsp chopped nuts
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • oil , for frying

How to make Mawa gujiya

  1. Take mawa in a wok and stir it till grainy and brown.
  2. When it cools down, add dessicated coconut, powdered sugar and other ingredients and mix well.
  3. Take flour and ghee in a bowl and make a dough with water, rest aside for 20-25 mins.
  4. Make small balls with the dough and roll out small pooris.
  5. Using a gujiya maker , make the gujiya with the filling.
  6. Deep fry the gujiya on low flame till brown.
  7. Drain on an absorbent paper and store in container when cool.
