About Seasame Brinjal Curry Recipe

A lovely traditional dish with very few and distinct ingredients. Filled with flavour and taste and a no onion no garlic receipe which can be had by all.

Seasame Brinjal Curry

Ingredients to make Seasame Brinjal Curry

  • Brinjal - 300 gms(1 large)
  • (used to make bharta)
  • Seasame seeds - 3/4 cup
  • Red Chillies - 7 to 8
  • Asfotedia-1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • curry leaves few
  • oil - 3 tbsps

How to make Seasame Brinjal Curry

  1. Wash and cut brinjal into large chunks. Make 3 to 4 slits on a side.
  2. Immerse in Salt water for a while.
  3. Grind seasame seeds with red chillies to a fine paste with sufficient water.
  4. Take a sauce pan. Add 2 to 3 tbsps of oil. Add the asfotedia.
  5. Now add the brinjal peices and mix well. Cover and cook turning sides in between till almost done.
  6. Now add the seasame paste. If very thick then add 1/2 a cup of water. Cover and Simmer further for few minutes
  7. Check for seasoning and add salt if required. If want to increase the spice then can add some red chilli powder. Add the curry leaves
  8. Simmer uncovered for another 5 to 10 minutes.
  9. Ready to serve with hot steamed rice.
