This is my mother in law's special recipe, a delicacy from her home town.

Sweet puttu

Ingredients to make Sweet puttu

  • Puttu flour ( raw rice flour) 1 cup
  • Grated coconut 1/2 cup
  • jaggery 1/2 cup
  • water 1/4 cup
  • cardamom powder 1 teaspoon

How to make Sweet puttu

  1. SPRINKLE WATER IN THE PUTTU FLOUR AND RUB IT WITH FINGERS. DON'T ADD SALT
  2. ADD WATER AND RUB TILL THE FLOUR BECOMES A BALL WHEN PRESSED
  3. STEAM COOK IT
  4. COOL IT TO ROOM TEMPERATURE AND BREAK ALL LUMPS
  5. ADD WATER TO JAGGERY AND BOIL TILL THIS CONSISTENCY
  6. IN THE BOILING JAGGERY ADD CARDAMOM POWDER, COCONUT AND COOKED PUTTU
  7. MIX WELL
  8. ADD 4 TABLE SPOON GHEE AND FRY CASHEWS
  9. ADD IT TO THE PUTTU AND MIX WELL
