About Moong dal kadhi (Jain food) Recipe

Kadhi made with dhuli moong daal and tamarind water

Moong dal kadhi (Jain food)

Ingredients to make Moong dal kadhi (Jain food)

  • 1 cup dhuli moong dal soaked
  • 5 cup water
  • 50 gms tamarind soaked
  • 2 spoon ghee
  • 4-5 dry red chillies
  • 1 spoon fenugreek seeds
  • 4-5 black pepper
  • 1/2 spoon red chilli powder for chaunk
  • A pinch of baking soda
  • salt to taste
  • oil to fry

How to make Moong dal kadhi (Jain food)

  1. Take 1/4 part of dal and grind it without water
  2. Heat oil in kadayi and deep fry dal balls
  3. Put fry balls aside
  4. Grind left dal with water
  5. Heat ghee in a pan roast fenugreek seeds,dry chillies ,black pepper
  6. Put the ground dal in pan,add,salt
  7. Sieve tamarind water and add into the pan
  8. Cook it for 30-40 min on sim flame
  9. Add fried balls
  10. Make chaunk by heating ghee and red chilli powder
  11. Garnish with chaunk
  12. Serve hot with methi poori or roti or rice

My Tip:

You can add mattha instead of tamarind water
