About uppu adai Recipe

This is an easy snack made with rice flour.

Ingredients to make uppu adai

  • rice flour 1 cup
  • chana dal 1 table spoon
  • coconut pieces 1 table spoon
  • water 2 cup
  • salt [as required]
  • mustard 1 tea spoon
  • green chilly 1
  • hing / asafoetida [1 pinch]
  • oil
  • curry leaves - 10

How to make uppu adai

  1. Roast the rice flour on a hot tawa and keep aside to cool.
  2. Heat some oil in a pan, add mustard seeds followed by asafoetida and green chillies.
  3. Add water and salt. Then add the chana dal, coconut pieces.
  4. Once the water starts boiling, then add the rice flour. Mix well so that there are no lumps.
  5. Cool this mixture and then make small vadas out of the dough.
  6. Now steam these in an idli steamer for 20 minutes.
  7. This is ready to be served.
