About Namkeens Recipe

Soaked,fried dals or lentils tossed with mild spices.

Namkeens

Ingredients to make Namkeens

  • chana dal- one cup
  • White channa dal- one cup
  • Yellow moong dal- one cup
  • salt per taste
  • Chaat masala 1/4 tsp
  • Can use red chilli powder, amchur powder. Optional
  • Baking soda or meetha soda pinch for each dal.
  • water to soak
  • oil for frying

How to make Namkeens

  1. Soak each dal with a pinch of baking soda for 8 hrs.
  2. Then drain water completely then put it on towel or cloth to absorb excess water separately.
  3. Heat oil at high flame. As dals are soaked so as you put it in oil it will lower temperature of oil ,so keep it at high flame.
  4. Except for white channa dal each other dal will take 3-4 min to get crisp. Check by taking a piece it will be crisp. Take out on tissue paper. When cool add spices
  5. I added salt to yellow moong dal and channa dal.
  6. For white channa it took me 8-10 min
  7. Cool it and add chaat masala, salt, red chilli powder. Enjoy.
