About Meen Moily Recipe

When on a vacation in Kerela, fish is probably the first dish i would eat. This dish is a delectable famous fish curry from Kerela which is enjoyed with steamed rice.

Meen Moily

Ingredients to make Meen Moily

  • 500g Fish
  • 2 onions sliced
  • 1/2 cup Thick coconut milk
  • 1 1/2 cups Thin coconut milk
  • 8 green chillies
  • 1 tsp ginger minced
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbs vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp flour
  • 1 inch Cinamon stick
  • 4 cloves
  • A few curry leaves
  • coconut Oil as needed
  • salt to taste

How to make Meen Moily

  1. Mix salt and 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder. Rub well on fish pieces. Leave aside for 30-60 mins
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish until half done.Drain excess oil on paper towels and set aside.
  3. Heat oil in another pan and saute the onions until tender. Add the flour, chilli powder, pepper powder, turmeric, and curry leaves
  4. Add the thin coconut milk, ginger, green chillies, vinegar, cloves, cinnamon and salt as needed.Cover with the lid and cook for 10-15 mins.
  5. Now add the semi-fried fish. Add the thick coconut milk when it comes to a boil and mix well.
  6. Remove from heat and transfer into a serving bowl
