ABOUT Jawar Bhakri RECIPE

Jawar bhakri is considered as soul food in the state of Maharashtra. Traditionally, it is eaten by farmers. Best combination with bhakri is pithale which is made with gram flour, another Maharashtratian delicacy. Farmers make it on thali with hands without using rolling pin.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup jawar flour
  2. salt as per taste
  3. Ajwain (carom) seeds 1 tsp
  4. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  5. Water

Instructions

  1. Take jawar flour, add salt, ajwain seeds, red chilli powder, mix all ingredients well.
  2. Make a dough with water.
  3. Now take a thali, invert it. Take small portion of jawar dough. Put this on thali and make roti with hands. Press it with fingers. Make round shape bhakri.
  4. Take a pan, put 2 tsp oil. Cook jawar roti / bhakri from both sides.
  5. Serve with onion, green chilli or lahsun Chutney.
