Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 3 piece of raw turmeric (grated
  2. 1/2cup freshly grated coconut
  3. 1tsp cumin
  4. 2 green chilli
  5. 4tbsp jaggery
  6. 2 cup butter milk(add water to curd n wish it)
  7. 1 tsp oil
  8. Salt to taste
  9. For tempering(optional) 1tsp oil, few curry leaves,1 red chilli,1/2tsp mustard


  1. Place fry pan and add oil to it, once heated add grated turmeric and saute for 2 minute
  2. Now add cumin to it and saute.Now add coconut to it and saute for 1 minute.Now add jaggery and  green chilli and give good mix .Now off the gas and let it cool down completely
  3. In the mean time prepare the butter milk and transfer it to big mixing bowl
  4. Once it is completely cool,grind it into the fine paste.Now transfer this mixture to the butter milk and give a good mix.And add salt as per taste.
  5. Tempering is purely optional, for tempering place your fry pan Add oil, once heated add mustard and let it splutter. Now add curry leaves and red chilli and saute for a minute.
  6. Now transfer the tempering to the mixing bowl with buttermilk and masala
  7. Your Kanch haldi kadhi/kachi haldi kadhi/raw turmeric kadhi is ready to serve! Served with hot steam rice/chapathi(all indian breads) too!.

It goes well with boiled rice.
