Chana Punjabi Tadka Daal

Ingredients to make Chana Punjabi Tadka Daal

  • chana daal 100g
  • onion 50g
  • cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
  • methi powder 1/4 tsp
  • Black pepper 1 pinch
  • Heeng 1 pinch
  • red chilli powder 1/4 tsp
  • tomatoes 1 med nos.
  • Salt, turmeric as per taste
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Desi ghee / mustard oil 2 tablespoons
  • bay leaf 1 nos.
  • Garam masala 1 tsp

How to make Chana Punjabi Tadka Daal

  1. Put 1tbsp desi ghee / oil in pressure cooker
  2. Add bay leaf and cumin seeds to it.
  3. Heat it.
  4. When well hot, add onion and saute it well till brown.
  5. Add salt, Turmeric, methi powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, been, red chilli powder. Fry well.
  6. Add chana daal, water. Pressure cook it for approx 10minutes.
  7. Shut off the flame. Open lid of pressure cooker, add desi ghee and garam masala.
  8. Garnish and serve.

My Tip:

Cooks faster if chana daal soaked in clean plain water for an hour before cooking. Tastes good with tandoori roti.
