ABOUT Karela Do Pyaza RECIPE

Bitter Gourd or Karela contains a train of important nutrients ranging from iron, magnesium and vitamin to potassium and vitamin C. An excellent source of dietary fiber, it also contains twice the calcium of spinach, beta-carotene of broccoli, and the potassium of a banana. Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Finely Sliced Bitter Gourd (Barik Kata Karela) - 100 Grams
  2. Finely Sliced Onions (Barik Kati Pyaz) - 150 Grams
  3. Dry Red Chilies (Sukhi Laal Mirch) - 8 - 10
  4. Oil (Tel) - As per Requirement
  5. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak bottle gourd it in salt water for 10 minutes before cooking
  2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan or kadai. Once the oil is hot, add dry red chilies, onions and bitter guard. On a high flame mix all the ingredients. Cover and cook it on low flame till onions become translucent.
  3. Season with salt according to taste. Cook it for 10 15 minutes till the Onions turns brown and get separated from them. Stir it in between to avoid any burning of the curry.
  4. The dish is ready to be served with naan, roti, phulka, paratha or any flavored rice.
