About Maach Bhaja Recipe

Bengalies mostly use fried fish for their various type of fish recipes. Frying fish is a regular practice for every bengalies in their kitchen.Tasty fish fry can be serve as starter as well. Here i have tried the bengali spices in whole fish.

Maach Bhaja

Ingredients to make Maach Bhaja

  • Fish ( Red snapper) - 1 big
  • Chili powder 1 teaspoon
  • turmeric powder 1/8 teaspoon
  • coriander powder 1/4 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh fenugreek leaves 1 teaspoon
  • ginger garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala 1/2 teaspoon
  • lime 1/2 for lime juice
  • mustard oil for frying 1 1/2 teaspoon
  • salt as needed

How to make Maach Bhaja

  1. Marinate fish with ginger garlic paste chili powder turmeric powder salt coriander powder and garam masala
  2. Marinate under refrigeration for 20-30 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add pepper and mix well. Then add fish
  4. Let it cook for a few mins.
  5. Flip the fish over gently then pour the remaining marinade onto fish and let it cook till the meat is flaky.
  6. Before taking off flames, garnish with lime juice and fenugreek leaves.
  7. Serve hot with rice or mashed potatoes or roties

Looks yum..but... This is definitely not Bengali fish fry...
